Avinent Implant System

AVINENT Portugal, leader in dentistry and continuous growth

Several years ago, AVINENT Implant System began implementing an internationalization and expansion strategy in major leading countries and others undergoing processes of growth. One example of this can be found in Portugal, a country where the company has already made its mark since the beginning of this decade and was consolidated throughout 2017.

Benelux, Canada, Taiwan, Croatia and Romania are other examples of countries where the company’s performance has been outstandingly above average until now. The new dynamics of the global economy, which is currently undergoing a period of strong dynamism and change, means that the market has now become the whole world.

The opening up of local economies, market unification, product standardization and new communication channels all imply that looking abroad can help to find opportunities in markets with growth potential. Portugal is one success story where AVINENT has been warmly welcomed. Ever since it entered the country in 2012, the Portuguese market has very positively received the company’s products.

Joao Almeida, Business Manager of AVINENT Portugal, claims that AVINENT’s products in Portugal have had a high level of acceptance: “Its portfolio of solutions in the field of Oral Implantology and Digital Health has attracted the interest of medical professionals because of its ability to respond to everyday needs, thereby filling several manufacturing gaps in the market.”

Joao Almeida believes that the keys to AVINENT’s success in Portugal are “research and development, need-based training, greater efficiency in responding to requests, immediate logistics, simplicity of brand devices and greater adaptation to the needs of doctors.” According to Xavier Boadas, the head of AVINENT’s International Department, the success of this growth is based on “an excellent knowledge of the market by our partners in Portugal and intense, continuous collaboration between the two parties.”

According to Joao Almeida, the most outstanding feature of AVINENT’s successful history in the Portuguese market is its ability to develop customizable solutions that can address the most varied and complex issues that may arise in the maxillofacial field: “I am referring to Digital Health, in which we combine all the technology and scientific research to develop solutions in areas such as reconstructive surgery, orthognathic surgery, neurosurgery, panfacial fractures or orbital cavity, among others.”

AVINENT Portugal’s Business Manager points to Coral and Ocean implants and the guided surgery system as the company’s star products in this western corner of the Iberian Peninsula.

As Xavier Boadas explains: “Our presence at Expo-Dentária, the most important sector congress and fair in Portugal, was also very important. Organized by the prestigious Portuguese Dental Association (OMD), it was this year held at MEO Arena in Lisbon’s Parque das Nações. In 2018 the OMD congress will be held in Porto and AVINENT has already confirmed its presence there.”

Training and dissemination of knowledge

But more than selling its product in these new markets, the company is also interested in developing a more comprehensive project based on training and the exchange of knowledge in order to contribute to the progress of the medical and dental sector in these countries. “Internationalization helps to strengthen the brand,” says Xavier Boadas, “because among other things it carries with it values such as communication, proximity and growth.”

Consequently, training activities for professionals have already been carried out until now, including practical courses on the use of implants, and the exchange between doctors has begun to be promoted.

In terms of visits and activities carried out at AVINENT’s headquarters, Dr. Ricardo Oliveira Pinto believes that “they provide moments of learning and knowledge exchange, a greater and better idea about the true features of the brand’s products and the possibility of exchanging opinions, thereby helping to improve the available material.”

AVINENT has welcomed professional delegations from various clinics in Portugal at its headquarters. In addition to visiting the company’s facilities, the doctors also participated in a workshop on guided surgery and witnessed live surgery at a dental clinic. Visits such as these are part of the philosophy of AVINENT, whose daily business as a leading company in digital flow dentistry is based on an open-door policy and professional training.

Dr. Ricardo Oliveira Pinto adds: “The training it offers is essential to AVINENT’s success in Portugal, because it is increasingly committed to activities related to this and seeks to develop projects that respond to the stated needs of its clients (doctors, associations, etc.).”

Oliveira also claims that a commitment to full digital flow will increasingly become a necessity and security for health professionals: “Digital flow is at the forefront of technological innovation and I believe it can complement and assist in resolving complex clinical cases, which used to demand higher costs for patients and professionals and were sometimes not viable. In this way, we can respond more effectively and efficiently to existing shortcomings in the market”.
